GARNET ENERGY CENTER

The Garnet Energy Center is a proposed 200-megawatt photovoltaic solar energy generating facility located on private land in the town of Conquest in Cayuga County, N.Y.

Community Benefits

The Garnet Energy Center will deliver new jobs, long-term revenue and economic development to Cayuga County and the town of Conquest while supporting family farms.

250+ Jobs in Cayuga County

With a multimillion-dollar construction labor budget, the Garnet Energy Center has the potential to create 250+ jobs during construction and three to four good-paying, full-time, permanent jobs.

Millions in Revenue

The project is expected to provide millions of dollars in revenue to the town of Conquest, Cayuga County and schools to reduce the local tax burden or allow investment in infrastructure, additional services and resources for residents—throughout the life of the project.

Support for Local Farmers

Through land agreements, Garnet Energy Center will support the local agricultural economy by infusing revenue into local farms and diversifying their income.

The Garnet Energy Center is proposed by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, an experienced community partner and the world’s largest generator of wind and solar energy, with generating facilities across the United States and in Canada.
